Silicon Nanocrystals

Using proprietary preparative and functionalization methods, AQM produces high purity silicon nanocrystals (from 2 to 100 nm) of unsurpassed quality with tailored properties. Colloidal semiconductor nanocrystals, also known as quantum dots (QDs), are nanoparticles. Owing to their small size, these materials are especially advantageous due to having remarkably high efficiency and size-tunable photoluminescence over a wide-range of colors. They are very effective at absorbing a broad spectrum of light and converting that energy into emitted light of a single color by controlling the particle size. Tuning the size and sometimes the composition of the dots is achieved by carefully adjusting manufacturing conditions and surface chemistry. As a result, we have the ability to design high-performance silicon-based functional nanoprobes, sensors and reagents for biological analysis, detection and disease treatment.

Furthermore, AQM possesses the capabilities to prepare silicon nanoparticles with various sizes (15 to 100 nm), crystallinities (i.e., crystalline, polycrystalline, non-crystalline), porosities (i.e., porous, non-porous) and morphologies (spherical, random, fiber).

We have the ability to design high-performance silicon-based functional nanoprobes, sensors and reagents for biological analysis, detection and disease treatment.
